Khaolak Installs "Reduce Speed" Signs to Enhance Tourist Safety

Khaolak is a town located along Phetkasem Road, one of Thailand’s main highways. Over the past few years, the road has been expanded to multiple lanes, resulting in increased traffic and a higher frequency of road accidents. Many drivers tend to speed and forget to slow down when entering Khaolak town.

In response to this concern, Khaolak has installed "Reduce Speed" signs, setting the speed limit to 50 kilometers per hour to help reduce accidents and ensure the safety of tourists.

Additional Safety Tips for Tourists from Khaolak Life:

1. Crossing the Road:

- In Thailand, cars do not always stop at pedestrian crossings, which may be different from what you're used to in other countries.

- From local experience, it’s recommended to wait until the traffic light turns red or there are no cars coming before crossing the road.

- Always look both ways and make sure the path is clear before stepping onto the road.

2. Walking Along the Road:

- Use sidewalks whenever available, or walk along the edge of the road if there are none.

- Walk facing oncoming traffic to stay aware of vehicles.

3. Riding in Vehicles:

- Always wear a seatbelt, whether you're sitting in the front or back seat.

- In open vehicles like songthaews or tuk-tuks, sit carefully and hold onto the handrails securely.

4. Driving in the Area:

- If renting a motorbike, drive carefully and always wear a helmet.

- Follow traffic signs and drive within the speed limit.

- Never drink and drive. Alcohol impairs judgment and increases the risk of accidents.

Khaolak welcomes everyone with safety in mind and hopes you have a memorable stay here!
